Serving at Forgotten Louisville last Wednesday was the most awesome RAK project! It was awesome because we did it as a soccer team. I play with a soccer club called Ohio Elite Kentucky. Coach Charlie is the person in charge of our club.

I discussed with Coach Charlie about doing a service project with our U13 team and he was all for it. So, we served dinner at Forgotten Louisville last Wednesday. So many players were able to come and so many parents spent a lot of time making yummy, delicious food that was homemade.

It was great time for us off the pitch to work together. I don’t think anyone on my team has ever experienced homelessness or that kind of sadness. I don’t understand how so many people are homeless in Louisville – we have so many homes and apartments. There has to be a way to help this.

Here are some pictures of our project. I would like to challenge all my friends who play sports: DO A SERVICE PROJECT WITH YOUR TEAM. With your soccer team, your baseball team, your field hockey team, your basketball team … It will make you a closer team and will make you a better team. A big part of playing soccer is giving back, I think – coaching younger kids, being a ref, using soccer to break barriers. Coach Lolla is always talking about community involvement, too.

Let me know if you need ideas for team service projects! I am happy to give you options!!!
